Legend Motorcycles In-house Project | Harris 1260 GPZ
When it comes to doing things the right way you can trust Legend Motorcycles to come up with the goods. A case in point is our own in-house project to resurrect a dated non-running Harris Magnum 1
This is the what we ended up with.
ORIGINAL MAKE & MODEL: Harris Magnum 1
ENGINE: Kawasaki GPZ Unitrack, Orient Express 1260cc big-bore kit, gas-flowed and 8-plug head with APE studs and nuts, Jim Wells cams, welded and balanced crank, APE clutch basket and springs with heavy-duty plates, Debben works-style clutch actuation arm, machined out Mikuni 33mm smoothbore carbs breathing through shortie bellmouths, Boyer Branson ignition system with 4 x 1.5 ohm Dyna coils, one-off serpentine stainless steel exhaust system with cut-down tri-oval Yoshimura race can: Loud!
FRAME: Harris Magnum 1, modified subframe to house 2 x gel batteries and mount Suzuki GSX-R1000K1 seat unit, additional mounts for oil coolers & steering damper, Gilles rearsets for a Suzuki GSX-R1000 with carbon heel guards.
FRONT END: Yamaha FZR1000RU EXUP forks, yokes & wheel, one-off stem & risers. wavey brake discs with Yamaha YZF750 six-pot calipers, HEL black coated braided lines, chrome drag bars, Suzuki GSX-R master cylinders, modified Suzuki GSX-R1100 instruments.
REAR END: JMC six-inch over Pro Street over-braced swingarm, yellow powder- coated Hagon shock, Yamaha FZR1000RU EXUP wheel & caliper, Wavey brake disc, Suzuki GSX-R1000 torgue arm, 3 tooth larger Vortex rear sprocket (front is 1 tooth smaller Debben sprocket with a 3/8th-inch offset).
BODYWORK: Harris Magum 4 tank, Harris GSX-R1000K1 fibreglass replica seat unit, 12mm Foam seat padding, Yamaha FZR1000RU EXUP front mudguard.
ELECTRICS: Loom by Ferret’s Custom Elecktrickery (motorcyclewiring.co.uk), Yamaha FZR1000RU switchgear, Suzuki GSX-R1000 clear lens LED rear light, twin headlight unit soon to be replaced by unit from a Suzuki GSX1400.
